Ford Transit Courier - Auto Electrical Service Vehicle

The Brief

We were asked to convert a Transit Courier for an auto electrical engineer, with a clear focus on organisation and accessibility. The brief called for a fully lined and insulated interior, with a bott vario3 racking system designed to keep tools, equipment and storage cases secure and within easy reach throughout the working day.

The Design

We began with the fundamentals: a grey premium phenolic floor and full insulation to the sides, doors and roof using silver foam liner, finished with grey plastic side and door pads and a grey plastic roof lining.

For the racking, we installed a two-unit bott vario3 layout making full use of the van's load space. At the rear, a full-width racking unit was fitted with three bottBox sliding shelves complete with bottBoxes, and a clamping unit underneath to secure equipment in transit.

Directly in front, a second full-width vario3 unit continues the layout, integrating seamlessly with the rear racking. The upper section features a bottBox sliding shelf with bottBoxes, beneath which four bott Systainer3 cases are housed in two rows of two; ideal for carrying specialist tools and components. Below these, six drawers fitted with anti-slip mats provide further organised storage in two rows of three. A drop front at floor level completes the unit, giving easy access to the base of the racking.

The Result

The finished conversion makes the most of every inch of space in the Transit Courier, giving the engineer a well-organised, secure and professional working environment. The combination of bott vario3 racking, bottBoxes and Systainer3 cases ensures that equipment is always where it needs to be: ready for the next job.
