Renewable Fuel Service Fleet
The Brief
We were asked to convert a Ford Transit Custom for a renewable fuel company operating biomethane infrastructure across the UK. The vehicles are used by field service engineers, so the priority was a robust, well-organised load space that could support a full day's work on site, including the power to run tools independently of an external supply.
The Design
We started with a bott vario floor, providing a hardwearing, professional base built to take the demands of daily field use.
For storage, we fitted a three-tier bott vario3 racking unit to the offside, running the full length of the load space. The unit is divided into two compartments, each with three tiers of shelving and dividers throughout, keeping components, parts and equipment sorted and secure on the move.
At the rear end panel, we integrated a bott vario3 worktop with a 125mm vice on a turntable and folding mount.
To support on-site working, we installed a comprehensive electrical package. A 1000W 12V pure sine wave inverter with built-in RCD and remote gives engineers clean, reliable power for tools and equipment. An auxiliary battery and Redarc 25A 12V battery-to-battery charger ensure the secondary power system charges efficiently on the move, with a battery guard fitted as required to protect the vehicle's primary battery.
The Result
The finished Ford Transit Custom conversion is a capable, self-sufficient service vehicle. The combination of bott vario3 racking, a folding worktop with vice, and a full auxiliary power system means engineers arrive at every job with everything they need.
